To promote games under the 10-year master plan, Multan district authorities are planning to construct a sports city as instructed by Commissioner Multan division, Imran Sikandar Baloch.

The Commissioner instructed the concerned departments to seek assistance from the divisional sports department and to identify a site suitable for the project near Head Muhammad Wala. Following the site suitability analysis, the PC-I will be drafted and sent to the Punjab government for approval.

The planning department has already started work on drafting a plan for the sports city keeping in view the need for the proposed number of grounds in the city.

In addition to Multan, Lahore and Karachi are also set to get their sports cities in the near future. The sports city will feature all sports facilities including volleyball, table tennis, basketball, squash as well as grounds for other sports.

The project is aimed at boosting healthy activities while providing opportunities for the youth to represent the regional and national teams in different sports.
