Pakistan Cup Finalists Decided With Two Matches Still to Go

Despite two league matches to go, the finalists for the Pakistan Cup have been decided. Table toppers Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the second-ranked Balochistan will fight for silverware on 12th April 2019 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium at 2:00 pm.

The remaining two matches are Federal Areas vs Balochistan and Sindh vs Punjab. The outcomes of these matches are unlikely to impact the standings as KPK stands at the top with 7 points from 4 games. Balochistan has 5 from 3 and even if they lose, they will keep their number 2 spot at the points table.

Here’s the points table:

Team Matches Won Lost Tied Points NRR
KPK 4 3 0 1 7 0.267
Balochistan 3 2 0 1 5 1.008
Sindh 3 1 2 0 2 0.027
Punjab 3 1 2 0 2 -0.178
Federal Areas 3 0 3 0 0 -0.805

Federal Areas is yet to get off the mark and even a win cannot get them anywhere near the top 2. On the other hand, Sindh and Punjab currently have 2 points each and a win for either side can take them to 4 points, which is still less than Balochistan’s 5.

Balochistan will meet Federal Areas later today whereas Punjab will take on Sindh on 11th April.
