Wasim Akram Lashes Out at a “Random Journalist” Who Ruined Pakistan’s FC Cricket

Former captain, Wasim Akram has lashed out at the Pakistan players for unprofessional attitude after a dismal outing against India on Sunday.

The legendary cricketer has attributed T20 leagues to the declining performance of the players.

At the moment, the Pakistan player’s mindset is, so what if I don’t play for Pakistan, I can play in T20 leagues.

He added that the players should keep domestic cricket as their first priority instead of T20 leagues, suggesting that the PCB should keep a check on the matter. He further said that PCB only needs to give those players a chance in the PSL who perform well domestically.

Young players should play several seasons in domestic cricket and No-Objection Certificates (NOC) should only be given by the PCB to players who have been playing first-class cricket. Only pick players in the PSL who have performed well in First-class cricket

The 53-year old slammed the authorities as well as the previous PCB Chairman for not doing anything worthwhile to invest more in the domestic cricket.

Indian cricket has invested everything in First-Class cricket not just in the last few years. In Pakistan, we’ve hardly done anything about our First-Class system & change it every year. Our FC cricket was run by a random journalist for some odd reason, I don’t know why.

With the ever-increasing focus on global franchise-based T20 leagues and the prospect of earning plenty of cash from a few matches, the professional cricketers are choosing them over the domestic cricket.

  • You can’t really compete against the private sector money flooding into t20 cricket.

As for Sethi he made a lot of money running the PCB. The fact that people like him could get that job tells you, once again, that the PCB can’t compete against ruthless private sector efficiency. Too much politics, nepotism and corruption.
