In the era of innovation and technology, entrepreneurs are the ones striving to change the standards of living with their innovative ideas. Their ventures not only lift our lifestyles but also contribute towards society through the creation of wealth and jobs.
This is why entrepreneurs have been provided with a platform at the government level in the shape of 5 National Incubation Centers to realize their innovative ideas.
Every year, TiE, in collaboration with the US Embassy, organizes Pakistan Startup Cup, in which the top entrepreneurs from across the country pitch their business ideas and innovations. The best pitch wins the cash award of Rs. 1 million.
This year, two start-ups from the National Incubator Centre (NIC) Peshawar won first and the third positions in the competition; Nano IT Solutions, creators of immersive virtual reality experiences, topped the competition to win the prize of one million Pakistani Rupees. Whereas the third prize was shared between Aprus from NIC Peshawar and ReceiptBox from Karachi.

DeafTawk from NIC Islamabad – with their sign language service for the deaf community through an online video platform – was declared the second prize winners took home Rs. 750,000.

Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mahmood and Ambassador of United States of America to Pakistan, Paul W. Jones were the guests of honor at the prize distribution ceremony. The duo was left mesmerized with the pitches during the grand finale and appreciated the winners.
About Pakistan Startup Cup
TiE has been organizing the competition for the last five years. This year attracted the maximum entries with 2000 applicants pitching their innovations.
A series of workshops ad pitches were held in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, and Faisalabad.
A rigorous scrutiny process spread across ten months shortlisted 17 teams from different cities and out of them the top three pitches, and business models were selected.

Deaf Tawk a good initiative. There’s a lot to be done more in this arena for enablement of the disabled. Sign language is a traditional way, but the AI initiative would do a lot. The UN has also done a lot on this initiative. Please keep up, and do not more, do a lot.
