Vivo Launches Nex 3 5G With 64MP Camera and Waterfall Display

After months of teasers and leaks, the Vivo Nex 3 5G is finally here.

Thanks to its “Waterfall FullView” display, the Nex 3 has a reported 99.6% screen to body ratio with curved edges going over the sides of the phone. It is also the first flagship smartphone to sport Samsung’s 64MP ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor.

Design and Display

The Vivo Nex 3 5G has a gorgeous 6.89″ Super AMOLED display with edges around the screen that curves at nearly 90 degrees. As mentioned before, this allows for an impressive screen to body ratio.

Vivo claims that it’s 99.6%, however, the top and bottom bezels are still noticeable which leads us to believe that it may not be 99.6%.

The curvature of the screen is so extreme, that there is no room for physical buttons on the sides of the device. Instead, Vivo has introduced Touch Sense, which is a set of virtual buttons that simulate the real touch of buttons that work alongside a haptic feedback system.

Other than that, the phone has an in-display fingerprint reader and a pop-up camera, which adds to its clean looking design.

Internals and Storage

The internals of the device are pretty impressive as well. The Nex 3 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 855+ SoC coupled with 8/12GB of RAM and 256 gigs of storage. All of this combined with UFS 3.0 storage should ensure snappy long term performance.

There is also a vapor chamber cooling system coupled with the Adreno 640 GPU to keep the device cool during long gaming sessions or heavy usage.

Cameras

The circular triple-lens camera setup is called the “Lunar Ring” and is actually a throwback to last year’s Nex Dual Display.

It consists of a 64MP main shooter alongside a 13MP wide-angle shooter and a 13MP telephoto lens. These cameras can record 4K videos at 30FPS and 1080p videos at 30, 60, and 120FPS.

Like other major flagships, Nex 3 5G can also record super slow-motion videos at 960 fps/720p.

The pop-up selfie camera houses a 16MP lens and features “Portrait Master’s Hyper HDR” which promises bright selfies with incredible dynamic range.

Battery and Pricing

In the battery department, there is a 4500 mAh power cell which supports 44W Super FlashCharge, which was already introduced with the Vivo IQOO Pro. Even though the display is massive, the battery should be adequate enough to last you through the day.

As for its price, Vivo Nex 3 5G will be available in the following price brackets:

  • 4G only, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage CNY 4,998 ($707/€641).
