FBR Extends Deadline for Filing Tax Returns

The Federal Board of Revenue has extended the deadline for the submission of income tax returns for Tax Year 2019 to December 16, 2019.

The date for filing of income/statements of final taxation for individuals and AoPs for the Tax Year 2019, which were due on September 30, 2019 and extended up to November 30, 2019, have been further extended up to December 16, 2019.

Same is the case for the companies, which were due to submit returns for the Tax Year 2019 on September 30, 2019, later extended up to November 30, 2019. Companies that have paid 95 percent of the admitted tax liability on or before September 30, 2019, can submit returns by December 16, 2019.

The extension in deadline comes amid the government’s efforts to bring more and more people into the tax net and document the economy.

Stoppage of Raids at Business Centers

Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi has assured the business community that no raids will be conducted on registered taxpayers for income tax or sales tax purposes.

According to a press release issued on Friday, a delegation of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), led by President Saboor Malik, met the chairman at his office.

The FBR chairman sought help and cooperation from traders in addressing menace of smuggling. On the occasion, Saboor Malik shared and apprised the FBR chairman about the concerns of the business community.

The RCCI president said that the national economy is passing through difficult times and they require better partnership with the FBR in joint efforts towards revival of the economy.

He said that such raids and closure of business centers propagate negative message in the markets. It also hurts the honor, respect and goodwill of the business centers and market as well, he added.
