FBR Extends Date for Filing Income Tax Returns

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the date of filing income tax returns/statements for the tax year 2019 till December 31, 2019.

A circular was issued on Monday in this regard, which said that the taxpayers will be allowed to file their returns by the end of this year. Previously, the last date of filing was December 16, which expires today.

This is the sixth extension since the revenue watchdog first announced June 30 as the filing deadline. Inside sources said that a shortfall in the revenue collection prompted another 15-day extension.

As per reports, the revenue board has so far received over 1.9 million returns as compared to 2.7 million for the previous year.


  • I’m filer since 2013. I missed the 2017-2018 tax filing and have filed e filing of both 2017-2018 & 2018-2019 in July. But my filer status is still mentioned as NON-FILER on website because of these dates extensions from last 6 months. As a result of this I’m paying extra taxes on every transaction. ?

  • As per my communication with my tax consultant. Kindly deposit fee, I guess few thousands for individual and same for company. Even if you have returned Income tax returns fee is mandatory for immediate visibility on fbr website.

  • The taxpayers who have furnished their tax returns for the fiscal year 2018 and 2019 respectively and still their status is inactive.They need to pay ATL(active taxpayers list) surcharge to government.The amount of ATL surcharge is 1,000/- rupees.The ATL surcharge CPR (computerised payment receipt) is generated online.

  • For inclusion of name in ATL 1000 for individual, 10000 for Aop, and 20000 for companies
