Though none of the suspected coronavirus patients have tested positive so far, the government is, however, is improving its readiness to counter the novel virus.
For this purpose, the government has decided to use the Hajj Complex in Islamabad as a quarantine facility.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, shared the information while presiding over the Emergency Core Group meeting on Thursday.

He said that the step was in line with recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO). He informed the meeting that the ministry has established isolation wards in major hospitals across the country and that all the necessary arrangements are in place at the quarantine facility.
Under the National Action Plan, and in line with WHO Guidelines and international best practices, both isolation facilities at designated hospitals and quarantine arrangements are an essential requirement to meet any eventuality.
He thanked the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) for their support in this regard.
There is so far no case of the disease in Pakistan as strict vigilance is being maintained at airports with a screening of incoming travelers and their follow-up by dedicated public health teams and airport health authorities.

Dr. Zafar Mirza assured the public that their protection is the government’s utmost priority and that the ministry is fully prepared to fight the novel virus.
He maintained that the authorities are working round the clock to ensure a high vigilance to counter the health challenge posed by this epidemic.
