In a bid to restrict movement and help prevent the further spread of the coronavirus, the Motorway Police announced today that all motorways in Pakistan have been closed for traffic.
While all kinds of public transport have been banned, there have been a few exceptions for private vehicles whereby no more than two people can travel in them but even then as per the policy they will have to provide a satisfactory unavoidable reason for their journey.
For now, only fuel tankers and vehicles that are transporting essential items such as food will allowed to travel, they said. The call to close the highways was made as a preventive measure of the virus which so far has infected 1,100 people and claimed the lives of eight people.
