Samsung launched its Samsung TV Plus streaming service last year, and according to the latest report by Sam Mobile, the service might be extended to Galaxy users in the near future. The Korean tech giant is allegedly working on delivering the Samsung TV Plus-like functionality via a mobile app.
Samsung’s official streaming service is currently available free-of-charge exclusively through its Smart TVs released in 2016 and later in the USA and Canada. Hence, it is likely that the mobile app will also be available exclusively for Galaxy devices.
According to the report, users will be able to watch Live TV channels as well as access Video-on-demand (VOD) content. As of now, the streaming service offers channels including beIN Sports Extra, Bon Appétit, CBS News, Crime 360, fubo Sports Network, Fuse, Kitchen Nightmares, Lively Place, Outside TV+, Reelz, Tastemade, The Design Network, VEVO, Yahoo Finance, and a few more.
Samsung’s TV Plus streaming service is one of its tricks to give it a leg up on the competition. Hence, making it free of cost makes sense. For now, it is supported through advertisements, and the same is expected from the upcoming mobile service.
So far, the company has not officially confirmed the news; however, according to Sam Mobile, the news has been leaked by their internal sources.
There is a high chance the expansion of Samsung’s proprietary streaming service is influenced by the rise in media consumption as people around the globe go through the pandemic induced lockdown.
