Huawei Y6P Unboxing & First Impressions

The Huawei Y6P has just been launched in Pakistan as one of the Chinese brand’s latest budget phones. The price of the handset is currently unknown, but since it is powered by the Helio P22 SoC, has a 720p screen and 4GB/64GB memory configuration, we can expect it to cost between 20,000-25,000 Rs.

We unboxed the device and here are ProPakistani’s first impressions:

The box brings a warranty card and the usual items such as a SIM ejector tool, paperwork, and a 10W micro USB charger. There is no protective case included, but you do get a pair of earphones.

Design and Display

The Huawei Y6P has a plastic build and the color option we have is called Phantom Purple. There is a fingerprint sensor at the back and a triple camera setup in the top left corner right above an LED flash.

The sides are curved and on right there is the power button and the volume rocker, the left side has a SIM slot, the top is clean, and the bottom has a micro USB port, the speaker grille, and a headphone jack.

The 720p display is 6.3-inches tall and features a waterdrop notch at the top for an 8MP selfie camera. The display has 278 PPI pixel density, a tall 20:9 aspect ratio, and a screen to body ratio of 81.3%.

Camera and Performance

The primary camera setup includes a 13MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide unit, and a 2MP depth sensor. As for the camera app, it has all the standard functions such as Photo, Video, Pro mode, Beauty mode for AI beautification features, and Aperture which is just another name for portrait shots.

The “more” option includes HDR and panorama modes and the front camera has all the same modes.

Performance-wise, it is powered by the Helio P22 budget SoC with an octa-core CPU and 4GB RAM. It has normal transitions and smooth navigation, but it is only a budget device, so definitely not the fastest.

As with all new Huawei devices, the Y6P does not come with GMS (Google Mobile Services) so as for those worried about essential apps such as WhatsApp and others, we have a separate video coming up soon. Make sure to subscribe and hit the bell icon to stay up to date.
