Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) management has unearthed a scam of Rs. 8 million in the sale of tickets for COVID-19 special flights to Europe.
According to details, PIA officials in Sialkot had accommodated more than 50 ticket holders for their travel to France and Italy in violation of the rules to make illegal gains.

As per PIA’s COVID-19 special flight policy, no passenger with a ticket issued before the suspension of international flights – since mid of March – will be accommodated for any destination under any circumstances.
PIA has been issuing new tickets for the special international flight operations which cost double when compared against the fares for regular tickets issued before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the international air travel.
A senior PIA official privy to the matter has said that PIA Sialkot officers have committed this act with the help of travel agents.

The fraud has deprived PIA of Rs. 8 million worth of revenue.
The officials in question accommodated old purchased tickets by charging extra money from their holders (passengers) for their travel to France and Italy.
However, all culprits have been identified and inquiry against them has been launched, said the official.
