Pakistan to Get More Shipments of COVID-19 Vaccines Soon: Asad Umar

The Head of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), Asad Umar, has announced that Pakistan will receive three more shipments of COVID-19 vaccines during April, and will have enough vaccines by June for as many as 15 million people.

Umar, who also serves as the Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, revealed that the vaccination centers across the country have utilized around 1.4 million doses, using which 1,065,000 citizens have been inoculated and 350,000 have received the second dose. He added that 392,000 of around 640,000 healthcare workers who had registered with the National Database & Registration Authority’s (NADRA) National Immunization Management System (NIMS) have been inoculated.

In consideration of the rapidly growing number of COVID-19 cases, he has urged elderly citizens to register for the vaccination process.

To register, citizens are to either SMS their CNIC numbers to 1166 or visit the National Immunization Management System (NIMS) website.

Note that the vaccination drive for citizens aged 50 and above has been in full swing since 30 March.
