HEC to Investigate Information Leak of Medical & Dental Students

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has shown serious concern over the disclosure of the personal information of candidates from Balochistan and the former FATA who have applied for HEC scholarships to pursue their studies in medical and dental colleges.

Taking immediate notice of an unofficial merit list circulating on social media, a spokesperson for the HEC has stated that an investigation to catch those responsible for the leaking of the provisional merit list will be initiated.

For this purpose, the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) will be requested to investigate and identify those who had access to the confidential document.

Consequently, there is an uproar among the victims of the information leak regarding the posting of their personal information on social media.

The HEC has underscored that the merit list is linked to the project ‘Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for Students of Balochistan and FATA (Phase-II)”. The project is essentially aimed at the placement of selected students from Balochistan and the former FATA in medical and dental colleges.

The merit list in question is an incomplete document and was not meant for public release.
