Sui Southern To Cut Supply Amid Worsening Gas Crisis

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has decided to cut supply to CNG stations and industrial segments due to the worsening gas shortage in the country.

The Kunnar Pasakhi and Gambat gas fields in Sindh have been closed for maintenance, while supply to households and other consumers will remain uninterrupted in the meantime. For the time being, the company has requested all sectors to temporarily shift to alternatives until the situation gets better.

This shortage is supposed to last a few more days. As for now, the accumulation of gas is lower than usual and represents a shortfall of 177mmcfd across the national supply grid.

It is worth mentioning that Karachi’s sole gas distributor, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), reportedly recused itself from the responsibility to ensure gas supply to the commercial and domestic sectors, thus causing an acute shortage in the system and low pressure.
