PM Orders Relevant Ministries to Ensure Uninterrupted Supply of Commodities

Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered relevant divisions to streamline the availability of construction materials and basic commodities in the country.

These directives were issued by the premier during a review meeting. Officials including the Finance Minister, Shaukat Tarin, Industries and Production Minister, Makhdoom Bakhtyar, and Chairman New Pakistan Housing Authority, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Anwar Ali Haider, also attended the meeting.

The meeting also reviewed various pricing mechanisms, related supply/demand schematics of construction materials, and basic commodities such as ghee.

Regarding the aforesaid development, Prime Minister Imran Khan underscored the significance of ensuring the unhindered supply of raw materials used in the construction of inexpensive homes, further explaining that this would help sustain the availability of said material and reduce the possibility of incurring price disparities in the future.

While the above-mentioned remarks are well-founded, it should be noted here that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has already fixed prices of locally manufactured steel and related material for FY22.

Additionally, the FBR has also furnished numerous incentives to construction companies under the Finance Act 2021. It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s construction package under the Income Tax (Amendment) Ordinance 2021 is also a part of this act.
