How many scholarships are available?
Each year, AU offers two full Emerging Global Leader Scholarships and up to eight partial EGLS awards worth up to US$40,000 per year.
Who is eligible to apply?
You must be an international student needing a non‑immigrant U.S. visa (e.g., F‑1 or J‑1).
U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or dual U.S. citizens are not eligible.
You must be a current high school student graduating by June 2026 and not already enrolled in post‑secondary studies elsewhere.
How do I apply for the scholarship?
Submit your undergraduate application via the Common Application before 15 January 2026.
Submit the AU EGLS application and essay(s) through your AU applicant portal by the same 15 January 2026 deadline.
You must complete Step 1 before completing Step 2.
Are there interviews or additional requirements?
Yes, Zoom interviews and/or extra essays may be required for semifinalists and finalists as part of the selection process.

Preference is given to students who:
