The University of Guelph is a comprehensive public research university located in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The university was established in 1964 through the amalgamation of three institutions. These include the Ontario Agricultural College, founded in 1874, the MacDonald Institute, founded in 1903, and the Ontario Veterinary College, founded in 1922. Since then, the university has grown into a major academic institution.

The university enrolls more than 30,000 students from over 140 countries. This total includes students at the Humber campus, the Ridgetown campus, off-campus degree programs, diploma programs, and part-time studies. As of 2025, it employs 823 full-time faculty members.

The university offers a wide range of academic programs. It provides 94 undergraduate degrees, 48 graduate programs, and 6 associate degrees across diverse disciplines. The QS World University Rankings 2026 have placed the university at #503.
