The University of Manitoba (U of M, UManitoba, or UM) is a public research university located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The university was founded in 1877. It became the first university in Western Canada. Today, the university is the largest in the province, both in terms of student enrollment and campus area. The main campus is located in the Fort Garry neighbourhood of Winnipeg. The university also operates additional campuses and facilities throughout the city.
The university educates over 33,000 students at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These students come from across Canada and from many countries around the world.
