Aston University is a public university located in the city centre of Birmingham, England. The institution began as the Birmingham Municipal Technical School in 1895. It later became the United Kingdom’s first college of advanced technology in 1956. Queen Elizabeth II granted the royal charter on 22 April 1966.

Today, Aston University enrolls more than 13,000 students from around the world. Its international community represents over 120 countries. Approximately 80 percent of students pursue undergraduate studies. The remaining 20 percent pursue postgraduate degrees. The university continues to expand its student population. Students can choose from more than 250 undergraduate and postgraduate courses. These programs cover areas such as business, engineering, health sciences, and social sciences. Many courses include real-world learning and placement opportunities. The QS World University Rankings 2025 have placed the university at #395.
