The Master of Health Leadership – International Student Scholarships has been set up to support newly admitted international students enrolling full-time in the Master of Health Leadership program at the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences. These scholarships aim to develop leadership skills in the health sector and prepare graduates for impactful careers in health management, quality improvement, and healthcare leadership globally.

Background and Purpose

Established in 2016 and funded by the Faculty, the scholarship encourages international students to pursue leadership roles in public health and healthcare organizations. The program equips students with the knowledge and skills to influence healthcare systems, improve service delivery, and contribute to community health both locally and internationally.

Master of Health Leadership Benefits

Each year, the Faculty awards up to ten scholarships. Recipients receive up to NZD 15,000 towards tuition fees for the duration of their program, credited each semester automatically as compulsory fees. The scholarship provides financial support to ease the cost of study while recognizing strong academic achievement.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship is available exclusively to international students admitted to the Master of Health Leadership program. Candidates must demonstrate academic excellence. The selection committee, which includes faculty leadership, evaluates eligibility and recommends recipients to the University Council for final approval.

Master of Health Leadership Application Process

Students do not need to submit a separate application. Consideration is automatic based on nomination by the relevant faculty or selection committee, following admission to the program. The process ensures that high-performing international students are recognized and supported without additional application requirements.

Opportunities for Scholars

Recipients gain recognition for academic merit while receiving financial support for their studies. They also develop leadership competencies in health management and policy, preparing them to drive positive change in healthcare systems worldwide. Scholars join a network of future leaders who influence health outcomes in their home countries and beyond.
