NUS Medicine Graduate Studies Award Benefits

The scholarship provides comprehensive financial support for up to four years of doctoral study. As a result, scholars can focus entirely on their research without financial concerns. The award covers full tuition fees and provides a monthly stipend together with an additional monthly allowance. Furthermore, recipients receive a one-time research allowance after successfully passing the Qualifying Examination. International students also receive relocation support, including a one-time settling-in allowance and reimbursement for a one-way economy airfare to Singapore upon enrolment.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must secure admission to a full-time graduate research program at NUS Medicine and qualify for the Ministry of Education (MOE) Tuition Grant Subsidy. They should possess an outstanding academic record, including at least a First Class Honors or Highest Distinction undergraduate degree, or an equivalent qualification. The scholarship is open to Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents, and international applicants. In addition, recipients must maintain satisfactory academic progress throughout their candidature. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents must fulfil the NUS Medicine GSA Teaching Requirement, while international students must participate in the Graduate Assistantship Program (GAP). The scholarship does not carry a service bond.

NUS Medicine Graduate Studies Award Application Process

Applicants must apply for admission to an eligible graduate research program at NUS Medicine. They do not need to submit a separate scholarship application because the University automatically considers eligible candidates during the admission process. Afterwards, the NUS Medicine admission committee evaluates applicants based on their academic excellence, research potential, and overall suitability for the award and selects up to ten outstanding candidates each year.
