The Beijing Government Scholarship (MS) for International Students is a merit-based award funded by the Beijing Municipal Government. It supports outstanding foreign students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in Beijing. At the Master’s level, the scholarship is available to students admitted to a Master’s degree program at Beijing Normal University for the relevant academic year. The award encourages talented international graduates to continue their academic journey in China while receiving structured financial support.

Background and Purpose

The Beijing Municipal Government established this scholarship to promote international education and global academic exchange. It aims to attract high-achieving students from different countries and strengthen Beijing’s academic community. Therefore, the program reduces financial barriers and increases access to high-quality Master’s education. Through this initiative, the government supports cultural diversity and international collaboration in higher education.

Beijing Government Scholarship (MS) Benefits

The scholarship offers three funding categories. Type A covers tuition, accommodation or a housing subsidy, a living allowance, and comprehensive medical insurance. Type B covers tuition, accommodation or subsidies, and medical insurance, and Type C covers tuition and medical insurance only. Consequently, students receive varying levels of financial assistance depending on the category awarded. All types significantly lower the cost of postgraduate study in China.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and hold a valid foreign passport. They must be in good health and must have secured admission to a Master’s program at Beijing Normal University. Additionally, they must enroll in the same academic year as their admission. Importantly, Master’s applicants must be under 35 years old at the time of enrollment. Students who receive other Chinese government or social organization scholarships cannot apply simultaneously.

Beijing Government Scholarship (MS) Application Process

Applicants must submit an online application through the BNU Online Application System for International Students. They must upload the required documents and may need to send physical copies if requested. The university reviews all materials carefully before making final decisions.

Opportunities for Scholars

Recipients must complete an annual assessment to maintain funding. The scholarship supports students for the standard duration of the Master’s program, provided they meet academic requirements. As a result, scholars can focus on research, professional growth, and international engagement throughout their postgraduate studies.
