Who is eligible to apply?
Anybody applying to an EPFL Master’s program can apply, the scholarship application is part of the regular Master’s application form. Students who already hold a Master’s degree or are already enrolled in a Master’s program are not eligible.
How do I apply for the fellowship?
External applicants must tick the Excellence Fellowship box in the online Master’s application form by the application deadlines.
Do I need a minimum GPA or language test?
There’s no formal minimum GPA requirement, but the selection is very competitive. Language certificates (e.g., TOEFL) are welcome but not required for evaluation.
Can I defer my admission and keep the scholarship?
No, if you postpone or defer your Master’s admission, the fellowship is forfeited. You may reapply the next year through the standard process.
Can I work while receiving the fellowship?
Yes, working in Switzerland does not affect continuation or payment of the Excellence Fellowship.
Can I hold this fellowship with other funding?
Yes, additional financial support may be allowed, but all scholarships must be declared and are reviewed individually.
What happens if I change or suspend my studies?
Transferring to a different program is possible, but continuation of the fellowship is not guaranteed. The fellowship can also be temporarily suspended in specific situations (like illness or pregnancy).
