The LSTM Humanitarian Scholarship supports postgraduate students who have faced serious hardship due to armed conflict or displacement. The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) offers this award to help affected individuals pursue a master’s degree in global health and related fields. LSTM is internationally recognized for excellence in infectious disease research, humanitarian health, and public health education. Therefore, this scholarship enables resilient learners to rebuild their academic and professional futures.
Background and Purpose
Armed conflict and forced displacement disrupt education and careers. As a result, many talented individuals lose access to higher education. This scholarship directly addresses that gap. It supports applicants who have been at risk due to war, internally displaced, or forced to flee their home country within the last three years.
Moreover, the award encourages scholars to develop leadership skills and tackle health inequalities. Through advanced study at LSTM, recipients can strengthen their expertise in global health and humanitarian response. Consequently, they can contribute meaningfully to rebuilding communities and improving public health systems.
LSTM Humanitarian Scholarship Benefits
LSTM offers one scholarship worth £30,000.
- The award can cover tuition fees and living costs for full-time, on-campus master’s programs.
- Alternatively, it can cover tuition fees only for part-time or distance-learning programs, including the MSc Global Health.
