The Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) and the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) are highly competitive, merit-based awards designed to support full-time Master’s and Doctoral students at the University of Waterloo. Jointly funded by the Province of Ontario and the university, the base value is a maximum of $15,000 CAD for one academic year; however, Waterloo automatically supplements this with the President’s Graduate Scholarship (PGS), establishing a guaranteed minimum annual funding package of $20,000. OGS is open to all academic disciplines, while the QEII-GSST is reserved for students in Science and Technology programs, and the competition is accessible to Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents, and international students.
