The Vice Chancellor’s South Asia Postgraduate Scholarship is a merit-based regional award offered by the University of Dundee. The university created this scholarship to support talented international students from South Asia enrolling in full-time, on-campus master’s programs. It targets students who have received an offer to study at Dundee and pay international tuition fees. By providing financial support, the scholarship encourages students from the region to pursue advanced education in the UK.
Background and Purpose
The University of Dundee launched this scholarship to strengthen its connections with South Asia. The award aims to attract high-achieving students and promote regional diversity on campus. Through this initiative, the university supports academic excellence while encouraging students to contribute to the multicultural learning environment. Moreover, the scholarship reinforces Dundee’s commitment to accessible postgraduate education for top candidates from South Asia.
Vice Chancellor’s South Asia Postgraduate Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship provides a fixed monetary award of £6,500. This funding applies to study costs for the first year of a qualifying master’s program. The award helps reduce the financial burden of international tuition and living expenses, making postgraduate study more achievable.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have an unconditional or conditional offer for a full-time, on-campus master’s program. The program’s annual tuition fee must meet or exceed £22,250 (depending on the course). Candidates must also meet the University’s criteria for international fee status, as stated in their offer letter. Eligible students must come from one of the following South Asian countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka. Students progressing from the International College Dundee (ICD) into a full university program remain eligible if they satisfy all requirements.
Vice Chancellor’s South Asia Postgraduate Scholarship Application Process
Students do not need to submit a separate scholarship application. The University admissions team automatically reviews all eligible applicants based on the program application. Successful candidates are notified alongside their offer to study. The scholarship applies only to students starting their program in September 2026.
Opportunities for Scholars
Recipients of the scholarship gain financial support while joining a diverse international student community. They benefit from the University’s academic excellence, networking opportunities, and exposure to UK higher education. Additionally, the award allows students to focus fully on their studies and gain skills that will enhance career and research prospects in South Asia and beyond.
