The European University Institute (EUI) is an international, research-intensive university. The EUI operates its main campus in the hills above Florence. It is located in Fiesole, Italy. It focuses on postgraduate and post-doctoral education. The institute also operates as an intergovernmental organisation with juridical personality. Its founding member states established it to advance cultural and scientific development in the social sciences from a European perspective.
