Imperial College London, commonly known as Imperial, is a public research university located in London, England. The university’s origins trace back to Prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. He envisioned South Kensington as a cultural district featuring museums, colleges, and the Royal Albert Hall. In 1907, three institutions—the Royal College of Science, the Royal School of Mines, and the City and Guilds of London Institute—merged to form Imperial College London.

Imperial organizes its academic activities through four main faculties: Engineering, Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Business. The university offers a broad range of programs. It provides over 60 undergraduate courses, more than 100 master’s programs, and a wide array of doctoral and research opportunities.

Imperial College educates approximately 22,000 students. These include both undergraduate and postgraduate students from across the globe. Its rigorous programs and strong research focus make it one of the leading universities in science, technology, medicine, and business worldwide. According to the QS World University Rankings 2026, the university ranks #2.
