The University of Liverpool (UOL) is a public research university in Liverpool, England. It was founded in 1881 and became affiliated with Victoria University in 1884. In 1903, King Edward VII granted it a royal charter. This allowed the university to award degrees independently.
The university is organized into three faculties. These faculties include 35 schools and departments. It offers more than 230 undergraduate degree courses across 103 subjects. It is also a founding member of the Russell Group of research-intensive UK universities. The QS World University Rankings 2026 have placed the university at #147.
