The year 2022 is off to a great start as the KFC Restaurants in the US will have a temporary addition of plant-based fried chicken on their menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The launch will take place today i.e. Monday, 10th January 2022. The debut of the plant-based fried chicken is successful after years of testing. The Yum Brands chain and Beyond Meat have been experimenting to create a meat substitute with the same taste and texture as that of a whole muscle chicken. After years of experimenting and creating meatless options for the public, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Beyond Meat are launching “Beyond Fried Chicken” in the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the August of 2019, the first-ever batch of plant-based chicken was tested by KFC at an Atlanta restaurant. The test run was a success as the limited supply of the new item was sold out in less than five hours. As a result, KFC became the first-ever U.S. restaurant chain to introduce plant-based chicken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the course of two years, testing of the new product was expanded to more than 70 locations across the United States. All the testing of plant-based chicken showed promising results. The CEO and founder of Beyond Meat, Ethan Brown, said in a statement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The product delivers the delicious experience consumers expect from this iconic chain, but also provides the added benefits of plant-based meat.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
He further expressed his joy on the release of this product by stating:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are truly thrilled to make it available to consumers nationwide.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
The need for Plant-based Fried Chicken<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Plant-based chicken is needed as more people are adopting diets in which they cut down on their meat consumption. This may be related to health and environmental reasons. Thus by excluding meat and meat options from the diet, people opt for plant-based alternatives. And so, letting people experience the same taste and texture of meat through plant-based products drove the founders to create this food item.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the launch of the plant-based chicken, the president of KFC U.S. said in a news release:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mission from day one was simple \u2013 make the world-famous Kentucky Fried Chicken from plants. And now over two years later we can say, ‘mission accomplished’.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
