Many tweens and teens have been shocked to discover their actions constitute a crime and that they will have to bear the full consequences.<\/p>\n<p>Physical threats of harm should be reported to police immediately.\u00a0If such threats have not been made, here are some things to consider:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Listen to your child<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Victims of cyberbullying are in a vulnerable state, so how you respond is likely to be a significant factor. Gently ask questions, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How long has the cyberbullying been going on?<\/li>\n<li>What are the names of those involved?<\/li>\n<li>How were you bullied?<\/li>\n<li>Do you need a hug?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The last bullet is pretty much inconsequential. Sometimes, it only takes a hug from a loved one to forget the pain.<\/p>\n<p>If there is evidence of cyberbullying\u2014saved text messages, social media posts, website entries, etc.\u2014then keep it. Take immediate steps to address the issue.
