Best of 2018: 8 Bollywood Movies That You Need to See This Year

Watch them if you haven’t already.

As the year comes to an end, some of us will be hoping to catch up on the best flicks that they’ve missed out this year. Or maybe some of us are just looking to re-watch them.

If you fall into either of the two categories, well good thing then, because we’ve compiled a list of the top 10 Bollywood films to come out this year.

So without much further ado, lets dive in.

Sanju

Sanju tells the story of the eccentric artist Sanjay Dutt. With Ranbir Kapoor in the leading role, the film takes a look into Dutt’s life.

The lead actor stole the show with how well he delivered an exciting, tear jerking, and at times, an infuriating but stellar performance. The film is a crash course on the life and times of Sanju Baba and… do we need to say anything more?

AndhaDhun

The film is a thriller (we think). The trailer has a bit of everything sprinkled in, from romance and mystery to crass comedy, Andhadhun has it all.

The movie revolves around a blind artist, a pianist to be exact. As for what the hook of this movie is, we’ll let this trailer fill in on the rest:

Badhahi Ho

When you’re in love, age is just a number and that’s exactly the essence of this film. The film takes a comedic approach to a taboo subject.

The film basically revolves around a 25 year old that is confronted with the fact that he’s expecting a little sibling soon. The lesson here folks is that when you stick to family, nothing else matters. Badhahi Ho deals with precisely that:

Stree

Love story plus ghosts? We are here for it. This movie features comedy, horror, and Shraddha Kapoor in the title role.

Judging from the trailer, it doesn’t look like your typical love story, which is a good thing we guess:

Pad Man

The film celebrates a real life hero Arunachalam Muruganantham. This is a milder version of how this man intended to provide affordable sanitary napkins to women in India, all because he loves his wife so much.

Now that is some next level ‘through sickness and health’ goals. The story also features Sonam Kapoor as a supporting character.

Manto

While we’re never getting over Sarmad Khoosat as Manto, Nawazuddin Siddiqui put up a good fight to claim the character that is Manto.

Bollywood’s take on the iconic writer may gloss over a few details, but nonetheless, for those who are Manto fans, this movie will spur more debate on his life.

It remains to be seen if this version will release in Pakistan, however, efforts are being made to bring it here as we speak.

Karwaan

The story of friendship and family, Karwaan narrates a man’s experience in trying to receive his father’s dead body that was coming in from another city. There’s apparently a mix up, and we have the film’s protagonist go on a wild goose chase in pursuit of a dead man.

Despite the movie’s grim backdrop, we see three friends come together, explore themselves and discover that they’re more similar than they thought.

Laila Majnu

While we’re skeptical about love in this day and age, this story tries to convince us otherwise.

The story of Laila Majnu revolves around a modern family feud in Kashmir, a feud that arose out of old tribal rules from a foregone era.

The movie deals with themes of trying to bring light in a post darkness age through love. If romance is your cup of tea, then Laila Majnu deserves a look.
