Seasoned actor, producer, and director, Nabeel Zafar has sued BOL Entertainment Channel for not clearing his outstanding salaries. He had stepped down as the CEO and President of BOL Entertainment in February this year.
Known for his popular sitcom Bulbulay, Nabeel has been in the entertainment industry for nearly three decades. His debut drama serial Dhuwaan still lives in the memories of the generation that grew up in the 90s.
Nabeel Zafar vs BOL
During his tenure with BOL, the actor had launched season two of Bulbulay with title ‘Phir Bulbulay’ in May this year. It was aired in May on BOL TV – after Nabeel’s departure – and was soon blocked after a legal battle.
According to the channel’s website, Nabeel stayed with the channel for over four years and stepped down only to focus on his production house – MIF Productions.
However, sources familiar with the matter said the dispute was over the massive backlog of pay. Many BOL employees have stated the same.
Damages in Millions of Rupees
Nabeel released a presser lately, alleging that the newly-launched entertainment channel has withheld his salaries.
He announced to sue BOL for not honoring his outstanding dues of over Rs. 194 million. He also demanded another Rs. 100 million in damages.
Representing his lawyer in the Sindh High Court, Nabeel’s counsel argued that BOL TV owes debts over millions of rupees. The SHC has summoned someone from BOL TV to present their arguments during the next hearing.
