This Rescue Worker Missed His Own Sister’s Funeral to Save 3 Sisters From Drowning

Putting humanity first!

Social media is all praise for one Rescue Service official, who missed his sister’s funeral at home to save three sisters from drowning in Kandal Dam, Swabi.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rescue 1122 Service issued a statement on Friday lauding rescuer Zahir Shah’s devotion to protecting life.

The official was part of an operation to save three sisters drowning in the Swabi’s Kandal Dam when he received word of his sister’s death. Rather than rush to his sister’s funeral (like most of us would) he stayed put to help save the lives of someone else’s sisters.

It must have been a difficult decision to chose between one’s professional and personal responsibilities. In the end, the selfless diver opted for his responsibility to humanity.

An Example to Emulate

In its message appreciating Zahir Shah’s devotion, KP Rescue 1122 said:

“Perhaps this does not make any difference to anyone, but no doubt it’s an example for the world.”

Some people pointed out that maybe Zahir Shah was as selfless as we think (he is and we know it, give credit where it’s due people!).

There were some people who believed that the rescue official’s leave was not approved, which is why he couldn’t go.

However, that certainly was not the case here. The provincial government addressed this theory and announced that Zahir Shah was unwilling to leave the rescue operation mid-way (respect!).

After the news came out, Zahir Shah became Internet-famous. His fans lauded his decision, his selflessness and the example he set.

Twitter users appreciated Zahir Shah’s courage. It takes a lot of courage to put others first. It takes even more courage to prioritize the lives of three strangers over your own sister’s funeral.

Rescue official Zahir Shah was deemed a hero on social media.

Tributes include a whole poem for the ‘man of commitment’.

Heroes deserve recognition. So Twitter made a call to government to give this man his due.
