Food came between an Indian couple and now they’re divorced (this is no joking matter, it’s for real). They also gave new meaning to the word ‘food fight.’ It was food over love for them, we guess.<\/p>\n

We’ve heard that food is love and food is life, but this is the first time we’ve actually seen food come between a couple.<\/p>\n

Fight over Wedding Food Leads to Divorce<\/h3>\n

The ex-couple hails from Gondal district in Indian Gujarat. We know that Gujarat has some pretty sublime cuisine, but what we never realized was how big a priority it was to them. Literally.<\/p>\n

The worst part? This wedding\u00a0didn’t even get to the ’till death do us apart’ part. In fact, they barely made it to the main course of the meal.<\/p>\n

Just minutes after the couple tied the knot, they called it quits when it came to their family’s fight over the wedding food.<\/p>\n

Wedding food has ended lives before, and we have heard that in those cases, food poisoning was to blame. This recent incident however, seems juvenile at best.<\/p>\n

Here’s What Happened<\/h3>\n

It all started when the groom’s family didn’t like the menu, aka the larkay walay. When the argument got heated (the only heat you can’t blame on Gujarati spice), the two sides really dug in, not into the food though.<\/p>\n

Pretty soon it looked like a high school cafeteria fight (only more lavish since they had real food). Punches were thrown (not fruit punch) and insults hurled ( and some food too as everyone’s appetite went out the door).<\/p>\n

Police Called in to End Food Fight on Wedding<\/h3>\n

When plates started to smash, someone called the police. It took the freaking police to break up this food fight.<\/p>\n

Soon after the police came ‘The Suits’. We mean lawyers, not a clean-up mission.<\/p>\n

And before we knew it, the legal formalities for filing for divorce was\u00a0carried out at the wedding venue. Wedding gifts were returned as well.<\/p>\n

Biryani Has Ended Marriages Too<\/h3>\n

We suppose there’s a first time for everything. This wasn’t the first time though. Stolen fries hurt but stolen thunder, that’s like the worst day ever!<\/p>\n

Back in 2014, a woman called off her wedding when the groom\u2019s family wanted mutton biryani instead of chicken. Biryani is no mazaak,\u00a0<\/em>so perhaps some of us can sympathize with her here?<\/p>\n

So here’s what happened in this case.\u00a0The bride-to-be\u2019s family sent 30 kg of chicken biryani to the groom\u2019s family.\u00a0The groom’s family became upset because they do not eat chicken.<\/p>\n

At the time, the issue was resolved but when it came up again at the wedding, the bride refused to get married.<\/p>\n

According to the Police, the bride said that if they’re treating her like this now, whose to say things will improve after she gets married?<\/p>\n
