I’m sure most of us are familiar with the story of Samson and Delilah. History tells us of Samson, a man whose strength knows no equal, so much that he takes down a ferocious lion with nothing but his bare hands. As the story goes, the source of his strength was in his uncut hair, which Delilah discovers. She subsequently cuts it off and betrays him to his enemies.<\/p>\n

That was but just a legend told throughout the ages, but now it seems that an average \u00a0man in America has done exactly the same. Taking down a lion that is.<\/p>\n

What Happened?<\/h3>\n

News reports say that an American jogger hiking in the foothills of Horsetooth Mountain, Colorado, was recently attacked by a young mountain lion.<\/p>\n

Miraculously, this man survived the encounter, despite being caught unaware and attacked from behind by the ferocious beast. The lion bit and clawed the unidentified man’s face, legs, arms and back. The incident was also confirmed by local officials.<\/p>\n

Most of us could’ve concluded that the man was as good as dead, but apparently this jogger had the gumption to not only fight back, but also kill the predator in the ensuing scuffle. The man managed to strangle the giant cat in the struggle.<\/p>\n

Here’s what\u00a0Colorado Parks and Wildlife spokeswoman Rebecca Ferrell said:<\/p>\n

“There was some wrestling going on and the cat did latch onto his arm but he was able to choke it.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As for the runner, he was taken to the hospital. The authorities mentioned that his injuries were “serious but not life-threatening.”<\/p>\n

Investigations revealed that the lion that attacked the guy was male, less than a year old, and was 36kgs. Thankfully there was no risk of rabies from the beast.<\/p>\n

One thing is for sure. This is near to a modern day Samson as we can get.<\/p>\n

Mountain lion attacks have caused fewer than 20 fatalities in the United States in the past 100 years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
