Lahore High Court has issued a stay order against The Legend of Maula Jutt<\/em>. The movie sinks deeper into legal troubles with its ongoing copyrights case.<\/p>\n

The top court issued a stay order against the film, prohibiting the use of the movie\u2019s title, characters, and dialogues.<\/p>\n

Justice Ameen-ud-din presided over the court proceedings. In the copyrights case filed against The Legend of Maula Jutt<\/em>, the appellant stated that Bilal Lashari made the movie illegally.<\/p>\n

All this is because Bilal\u00a0Lashari did not buy the rights to use the title The Legend of Maula Jatt<\/em> from the makers of the original Maula Jutt. Nor did he buy the rights to use the story, characters or dialogues from the Punjabi classic Maula Jutt<\/em>.<\/p>\n

LHC held the current petition and issued a stay order preventing the use of the title, dialogue and characters.<\/p>\n

A Case of Copyrights<\/h3>\n

Mohammad Sarwar Bhatti of Bahoo Film Corporation owns the intellectual property rights for the original 1979 Punjabi hit Maula Jutt.<\/p>\n

When Bilal Lashari announced he would be making a reboot of the 1979 classic, he did not seek permission or buy the rights to use the story, characters, dialogues or anything else.<\/p>\n

Initially,\u00a0Mohammad Sarwar Bhatti filed a case at the Intellectual Property Tribunal. The new film-makers went ahead and released the trailer despite the ongoing case. That’s why they were issued contempt of court notices.<\/p>\n

Lashari claims that Maula Jutt was not a registered trademark and that no one owns the rights. As the legal battle continues, people wonder if the movie will be released\u00a0on time or if it’s released at all.<\/p>\n
