Pakistani classic dramas\u00a0Dhoop Kinare <\/em>and Tanhaiyaan<\/em> will be aired in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n

The news was announced by state-owned Pakistan Television. PTV revealed that both television series will be given Arabic subtitles before their export to KSA.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have selected two very popular dramas, Dhoop Kinare<\/em> (Sunlight\u2019s Edge) and Tanhaiyaan<\/em> (Loneliness), for Arabic subtitles.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Director of International Relations at Pakistan Television,\u00a0Shahzia Sikander said that PTV would send Dhoop Kinare<\/em> to Saudi Arabia by June.<\/p>\n

Pakistani Dramas to be Exported to Saudi Arabia<\/h3>\n

We knew since last week that Pakistan would be exporting dramas and films to Saudi Arabia. Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting,\u00a0Fawad Chaudhry made the announcement during his\u00a0visit to the Saudi capital of Riyadh.<\/p>\n

Following the Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman’s decision to lift the decades’ old cinema ban, the Kingdom became open for foreign art and cinema exports.<\/p>\n

MBS’ move is part of Saudi reforms to modernize the deeply conservative country.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since the abolition of the cinema ban in Saudi Arabia, the country has constructed cinema\u00a0houses and are even open to public concerts.<\/p>\n

According to Shahzia Sikander, the move will be a source of revenue for Pakistan. This will also provide recognition to PTV classics.<\/p>\n

It should be mentioned that the state-owned broadcaster has been struggling since the privatization of media happened in Pakistan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first time that Pakistan Television is subtitling Pakistani drama into Arabic for Saudi viewers.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Exporting Culture<\/h3>\n

Shahzia Sikander says that exporting PTV classics to Saudi Arabia will give the country a better understanding of Pakistani culture.<\/p>\n

Following MBS’\u00a0decision to abolish the cinema ban, the Kingdom is open for foreign art and cinema exports.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During Fawad Chaudhry’s visit to the Kingdom the Saudi Culture Minister Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan announced that\u00a0Pakistan\u2019s art academies and actors would extend their support to Saudi Arabia as the country has just begun to set up\u00a0new academies for performing arts.<\/p>\n

Even Saudi Airlines will provide Pakistani television dramas for in-flight entertainment.<\/p>\n

Besides that, Pakistan is expected to participate in Saudi music festival to be held in\u00a0April, 2019.<\/p>\n

Last year, Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan participated in the festival at King Fahad Culture Center, in Riyadh.<\/p>\n
