In our part of the world, marriage between cousins are quite common. Be it Pakistani or Indian culture, for decades desi families have adhered to this tradition, sometimes going so far as to force it. In fact, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that some Pakistani celebrities got married to their cousins as well.<\/p>\n

Perhaps most Pakistani families prefer it this way, seeing as how the couple may know each other since childhood. They feel there’s less risk of family conflict and divorces this way.<\/p>\n

This trend of cousin marriages is decreasing gradually as the upcoming generation gets more upwardly mobile than the previous one.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For today, we will be taking a look at seven major Pakistani celebrities in recent times, who married their cousins.<\/p>\n\n

1. Shahid Afridi and Nadia Afridi<\/h3>\n

Shahid Afridi<\/em> and Nadia Afridi<\/em> chose each other as life partners on 20th October 1999.<\/p>\n

Shahid Afridi hails from a conservative family who were originally based in Khyber Agency of FATA. It is said that Afridi’s family considers marrying anyone outside of their own family as a disgrace.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, the star all-rounder got married to his maternal cousin Nadia Afridi, and the two live a happy life.<\/p>\n

Shahid Afridi and Nadia Afridi have been blessed with four beautiful daughters Aqsa Afridi, Ansha Afridi, Asmara Afridi and Ajwa Afridi.<\/p>\n

This Pakistani celebrity couple have two children, a boy named Rayyan Khan<\/em> and a beautiful baby girl named Inaya Khan.<\/em><\/p>\n

3. Reham Khan and Dr. Ejaz Rehman<\/h3>\n

Unfortunately, the union did not last long and they got divorced.<\/p>\n

Her marriage with her first husband Ejaz Rehman<\/em> did not turn out to be a successful one and lasted only 12 years. The affair turned out to be one of the most controversial celebrity marriage in Pakistan, In an interview Ejaz said:<\/p>\n

Reham Khan later married one of the most influential politicians of Pakistan, Imran Khan. However, that marriage too couldn’t last a year. As per official records, this Pakistani celebrity couple’s marriage lasted from January 06th<\/sup> 2015 till October 2015.<\/p>\n

4. Shaista Lodhi and Adnan Lodhi<\/h3>\n

Shaista Lodhi<\/em> was first married to Waqar Wahidi<\/em> in 1999, but the marriage only lasted for 12 years. They filed for divorce in 2012.<\/p>\n

Shaista<\/em> is now living a happy and prosperous life with her second husband. She has three children, two sons Faiz Wahidi, Shafey Wahidi<\/em> and one daughter Eeman Wahidi.<\/em><\/p>\n

5. Saeed Anwar and Lubna Anwar<\/h3>\n

Saeed Anwar<\/em> holds the record for scoring the most number of centuries (20) by any Pakistani Cricketer and has also scored 11 centuries in test cricket.<\/strong><\/p>\n

His wife Lubna Anwar<\/em>\u00a0is a doctor by profession.<\/p>\n

The couple had two children. Unfortunately, their daughter Bismah Anwar<\/em> passed away in 2001 after a prolonged illness. They have their son Khuzaima Saeed.<\/em><\/p>\n
