April 22 marked the 8th death anniversary of one of the biggest and finest stars Pakistan has ever produced; the late comedian Moin Akhtar.<\/p>\n
Born on December 24, 1950, Moin started his television career when he was only 13. At this tender age, he played the character of Shylock in a rendition of Shakespeare\u2019s Merchant of Venice.<\/strong><\/p>\n Akhtar appeared in his first theater show at the age of 16 and soon found his place in national TV. He played iconic roles in PTV classics such as Rosy<\/strong>, Aangan Terha<\/strong> and Naukar kay Aagay Chaakar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Moin touched heights after heights of fame at a time when there was no social media. His unique talent earned him recognition not only in Pakistan but across the globe.<\/p>\n Together with television maestro and playwright Anwar Maqsood, he went on to produce several critically and commercially super hit shows including Studio 2\u00bd, Studio Poney Teen, Half Plate, <\/strong>and Loose Talk.<\/strong><\/p>\n Moin Khan and stage King Umar Sharif\u2019s theatrical performances in stage dramas like Buddha Ghar Pe Hai<\/strong> and Bakra Qistaun Per<\/strong> can still leave you rolling on the floor in fits of laughter.<\/p>\n Apart from stage and television, he also tried his luck in a few films, including Tum Sa Nahin Dekha <\/strong>and Mr. Tabedar.<\/strong><\/p>\n In recognition of his services for the entertainment industry, Akhtar was conferred with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz and Pride of Performance award.<\/p>\n Moin died on April 22, 2011, at the age of 61. He leaves behind a wife, two daughters and three sons.<\/p>\n The legend left this mortal world way before his time.
