Upcoming drama Alif<\/em><\/strong> is based on celebrated Pakistani playwright Umera Ahmed’s newest novel.<\/p>\n

Avid book readers and fans of Umera’s work can actually get their hands on the book this week, long before the drama serial debuts on TV screens.<\/p>\n

According to the publisher, Umera Ahmed’s novel Alif<\/strong> will be out on April 25th. Drama students and fans alike will be scooping this one up, hoping to dissect the thought-process behind one of Pakistan’s most eminent TV playwrights in recent history.<\/p>\n

And of course, once the book is launched, people will keep a keen eye for any comparisons between the much-anticipated drama serial, and the book its based on.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Umera<\/p>\n

Previously many of Umera Ahmed’s novels have been adapted into television serials, from Zindagi Gulzar Hai<\/strong><\/em> to Kankar.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

This is the first time though that the book adaptation is coming out earlier than the drama series its based on.<\/p>\n

Alif<\/em><\/strong> is a much-anticipated drama serial, thanks largely to its stellar cast. Alif<\/em><\/strong> cast Pakistani showbiz heavyweights such as Hamza Ali Abbasi, Kubra Khan, Sajal Aly, Ahsan Khan, Yashma Gill, and Hina Ashfaq.<\/p>\n

People look forward to seeing Pyarey Afzal<\/em><\/strong>‘s Hamza Ali Abbasi after his long hiatus from the television screen.<\/p>\n

The story of Alif<\/strong> will also feature Turkey, while the other half takes place in Pakistan. It follows passionate filmmaker Momin who is constantly embroiled in an inner battle between his two halves – his spirituality versus his indulgence in the glamorous world of showbiz.
