We’re getting a sequel to Top Gun<\/strong><\/em> three decades after the blockbuster premiered in 1986. Yes, Tom Cruise is back as Pete \u201cMaverick\u201d Mitchell in Top Gun:<\/em> Maverick<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Top Gun: Maverick<\/strong><\/em> release date is set for June, 26, 2020. It’s officially flying into theaters next year.<\/p>\n

Besides Tom Cruise there will some more familiar faces on screen. Val Kilmer is also reprising his role as Pete \u201cMaverick\u201d Mitchell’s rival, Tom \u201cIceman\u201d Kazansky.<\/p>\n

Top Gun: Maverick\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>cast new faces Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly. Other key players include Mad Men<\/strong><\/em> actor Jon Hamm, and Westworld<\/strong><\/em>‘s\u00a0 Ed Harris. Details of their characters are not known.<\/p>\n

The cast also includes Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell as an admiral; Bashir Salahuddin as an engineer; and the trio of Jay Ellis, Danny Ramirez, and Monica Barbaro as pilots.<\/p>\n

Top Gun: Maverick Plot<\/h3>\n

The sequel picks up after the original film, just decades later. The film will follow our hero Maverick in an age of unmanned drones. Pete \u201cMaverick\u201d Mitchell is expected to fight for the value of human pilots in the modern military.<\/p>\n

Whiplash<\/strong><\/em> actor Miles Teller will be playing Goose’s son. Goose was Maverick\u2019s former wingman, played by Anthony Edwards in Top Gun<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n
