ARY Digital’s Cheekh<\/strong><\/em> gained traction immediately after its first couple of episodes which proved to be popular with the viewers. For the past two weeks though, the broadcaster has not aired a new episode of the hit drama serial.<\/p>\n

The last aired episode left off with the lead character Mannat being sent to an asylum. Now that Cheekh<\/strong><\/em> has a solid fan-base, many viewers are starting to question when the next episodes will air.<\/p>\n

Rumor Has It<\/h3>\n

Each episode of Cheekh<\/strong><\/em> served to make the plot more interesting. That last cliff-hanger had us falling off the rails.<\/p>\n

While the drama serial buried a few sub-plots and characters, we don’t think it’ll bite the dust just yet. Audiences are looking at a strong finish for the Saba Qamar-starer here.<\/p>\n

Some speculated that the crime thriller wasn’t doing so well, which is why the network is cutting back on it.<\/p>\n

Reportedly, some people trashed the plot, the production and even the direction choices taken by Badar Mehmood. Despite all this, Cheekh has featured some of the best acting on Pakistani television, something that even its detractors seem to agree.<\/p>\n

Cheekh<\/strong><\/em> cast Saba Qamar as Mannat. While her performances are expected to strike a chord after roles like Besharm<\/em><\/strong> and Baghi<\/em><\/strong>, its Bilal Abbas’ Wajih who is doing the real damage with his top-notch portrayal of the villain.<\/p>\n

Aijaz Aslam’s Yawar also has us swept in a whirlwind of emotions.\u00a0He’s an insecure misogynist with a huge but fragile ego. The way he fends for family though is intense (if not absolutely scary).<\/p>\n

When Yawar has to choose between two brothers, Wajih or Shayan the emotional turmoil is real.<\/p>\n

Emad Irfani as Shayan has us reconsidering our standards for men. It just keeps raising the bar.<\/p>\n

Let’s be honest here. We gotta give kudos to the writer for creating these multi-faceted characters. The Cheekh<\/strong><\/em> cast has perfectly characterized their roles.<\/p>\n

Cheekh has also given us plenty of plots depicting strong women. The strong woman trope isn’t just limited to a raging Mannat. Another example of this is the jovial yet shy Shahwar (Yawar’s wife), who leaves a relationship with grace after facing rejection.<\/p>\n

It’s Shahwar who refuses to reconcile or react, no matter how heartbroken she is.<\/p>\n

Another example of a strong woman in Cheekh is that of Mannat’s mother. She wants to protect her only child but accepts that her daughter (Mannat) will make her own choices.<\/p>\n

For all those spreading these rumors that ‘Cheekh’s been canceled’, turns out it was just delayed.<\/p>\n

Entertainment Pakistan reports that the reason Cheekh<\/em><\/strong> was not aired last Saturday was due to Eid transmissions (in case you didn’t notice).\u00a0The Saturday before that was the 27th night of Ramadan.<\/p>\n

We look forward to settling this when Mannat heads to TV this Saturday.<\/p>\n
