Rumors that ‘Cheekh has been canceled’ were laid to rest as Cheekh<\/strong><\/em> episode 22 aired on Saturday. Now we’re just wondering if the serial will go with a realistically grim ending, or a fairytale one where justice is served?<\/p>\n

The crime thriller has taken us on an emotional roller coaster. From exposing the judicial system that has different verdicts for the affluent and rich versus the common man. To affirming the reality that nothing is sacred for a psychopath.<\/p>\n

Zanjabeel Asim Shah’s enticing script and screenplay made the story realistic right down to the details. It had plenty of jump scares, twists and turns.<\/p>\n

The Cheekh<\/strong><\/em> cast with Saba Qamar, Bilal Abbas Khan, Noor-ul-Hasan, Emmad Irfani, Nayyar Ijaz, and Shabbir Jan really brought the horrors to life.<\/p>\n

Where is the Story Going?<\/h3>\n

The script is dragging out longer than most of us would like. We’re still wondering if we’ll get a happy ending with Wajih being served justice? Or one where he gets away\u00a0 or a realistic one (we’re assuming the worst).<\/p>\n

And let’s not forget that infamous court scene, which had viewers all charged up.<\/p>\n

What’s Happening Right Now?<\/h3>\n

Even in the recent episode, the oppressors continue to rule. We see how Yawar is in emotional turmoil but still can’t do the right thing. Mannat’s own mother testified against her daughter, proving she’s mentally sick.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Ramzan was charged with a Rs 5 lakh fine for ‘being greedy and destroying a family’s reputation<\/em>‘.<\/p>\n

This episode could have been the realistic ending we all feared. There really is no rule of law, no security for a victim. There’s no uniform justice system in our society.<\/p>\n

In reality, most cases end with a settlement because the criminals have the money to make it go away. This or they buy a ruling in their favor.<\/p>\n

If this is not the end, with Mannat shipped off to a mental asylum, what is Shayan’s next move?<\/p>\n

The Shift Between Protagonist and Antagonist<\/h3>\n

Cheekh really doubled down on the unfair legal system that exists in our society. While so far Mannat and Wajih were the main protagonist and antagonist respectively, these roles were passed around a bit.<\/p>\n

At times Ramzan, Shariq, Shahwar, and even Haya would assume the role of a protagonist. While Mannat remained the main protagonist in the series, Shayan comes a close second.<\/p>\n

Shayan’s character is a breath of fresh air. He’s the opposite of the typical toxic male characters that we usually see on-screen in most Pakistani dramas. Now with Mannat in a mental asylum, its up to him to combat Wajih.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Wajih shared the antagonist spotlight with Nayyer Ejaz’s character. At times even his brother Yawar.<\/p>\n

Shabbir Jan’s performance as the antagonist is upstaging Wajih as the charming psychopath. With the theme of ‘money is power’ Wajih, the man with the money still holds the power. Yet, Shabbir Jan’s callous ways and indifference in his actions feels like he’s just the other side of the coin.<\/p>\n
