Its never being a better time to be a Neil Gaiman fan, especially of his magnum opus Sandman.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Following the well-received TV adaptations of Good Omens<\/strong> and American Gods,\u00a0<\/strong>the master storyteller’s epic comic series Sandman<\/strong> is being turned into a web series. And a pretty big budget one at that.<\/p>\n

Hollywood Reporter says that this is:<\/p>\n

\u201c….the most expensive TV series that DC Entertainment has ever done.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Vertigo comics series tells the tale of Dream (or Morpheus), <\/strong>the personification of stories and well… dreams. He’s the guy that inspires you, propels you to greatness and all out make you more than the sum of your parts.<\/p>\n

So what happens when the Lord of Dreams is captured? And released later to a world all powerless and with no memory of what happened to him? Where people have forgotten what it is to have dreams and hopes?<\/p>\n

The main series deals with all this and Morpheus’s attempts to regain control of his world and get revenge on his captors. Joining him on this journey are his other brothers and sisters, Death, Destiny, Desire and more.<\/p>\n

Coming Soon to Netflix<\/h2>\n

Here’s who will be involved in making Neil’s vision come to life.<\/p>\n

Allan Heinberg, the screenwriter behind Wonder Woman,\u00a0<\/strong>will be the showrunner behind this. Neil Gaiman and David Goyer (The Dark Knight) will serve as producers alongside Heinberg.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that no deal has been finalized yet. However, sources privy to the matter say that it is headed straight to series.<\/p>\n

Even though Warner Bros holds the rights to Sandman (as DC-Vertigo’s parent company), sources say that it opted to ship the series to other network and share revenues, rather than producing the whole thing itself.<\/p>\n

The Sandman comics ran from 1989 to 1996, and was briefly resurrected in 2009. The comics have earned considerable critical acclaim for their deft storylines and themes. Hopefully, this time the series will come to screens near you.<\/p>\n
