Video sharing platform TikTok, which was banned for a brief period in India, has helped a local woman find her husband who had gone missing three years ago.<\/p>\n
Police said that a Tamil man had fled his home in 2016 to live with a transgender woman. They were only able to catch him when a relative of his (former) wife identified him dancing with another person on TikTok.<\/p>\n

The complaint was filed three years back.<\/p>\n The man, identified as Suresh, was found in Hosur – a southern state of Tamil Nadu some 200 km away from Viluppuram where his wife lived. There, he had been living with a transgender woman.<\/p>\n Police said they \u2018counseled\u2019 the couple, and they are now back together.<\/p>\n ALSO READ<\/p>\n India Asks Apple and Google to Remove TikTok from Their Stores<\/a><\/p>\n “We contacted a transgender organization in the district who were able to help us identify the transgender woman in the photo,” police told BBC Tamil.<\/p>\n TikTok is a very popular video application in India with a userbase of around 120 million. In April, the app was banned on the orders of a local court in Tamil Nadu. The court feared that the app was spreading pornography in the country.
