Roberge (@jfrobergeQc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jfrobergeQc\/status\/1147103127725850625?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 5, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The same Minister shared a picture with the hijabi education activist on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>While Jean-Francois Roberge is discussing access to education with a hijabi Muslim activist, the Quebec government has banned public servants in positions of &#8216;<em>authority<\/em>&#8216; from wearing any religious symbols. Why are supposedly &#8216;tolerant&#8217; countries or provinces (like Quebec) intolerant towards religious expression and identity? Just how many fundamental rights did they strike out there?<\/p>\n<h3>The Irony of Open Intolerance<\/h3>\n<p>If you&#8217;re wondering why could Malala ever teach in Canada, most of us are unaware that she&#8217;s also an honorary Canadian citizen. The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate was at a G20 planning session in France when she met with Quebec&#8217;s Education Minister.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Malala Yousafzai survived a bullet in the head by the Taliban in 2012 for daring to speak out for girls&#8217; education at age 15. Its also a fashion trend in itself. Muslim and even Hindu women don the headscarf in a range of different variations.<\/p>\n<p>From wearing a loose headscarf called a &#8216;<em>dupatta<\/em>&#8216; like Malala to a turban like Halima Aden, its become a style icon for many women all over the world.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/maggydechantal\/status\/1147613641627328512<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Do you do it on purpose? The <s># <\/s><b>Loi21<\/b> is the separation of religion from the state. VICTORY !!!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>Quebec&#8217;s Hijab Ban<\/h3>\n<p>Quebec recently enacted Bill 21. This law bans government employees in positions of &#8216;<em>authority<\/em>&#8216; from wearing religious symbols.
