The Ukrainian government has decided to open the infamous Chernobyl site for tourism. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky made the announcement earlier this month.<\/p>\n
The President, while making the declaration, said that the site had been a negative part of Ukrainian brand and that the time was right to change it.<\/p>\n

People would now be allowed to take their cell phones to the sight. The decades-old restriction on filming and photographing has also been lifted.<\/p>\n The president further added:<\/p>\n \u201cChernobyl is a one of a kind spot on the planet where nature was renewed after a gigantic man-made fiasco. We need to demonstrate this spot to the world: to researchers, environmentalists, students of history, and visitors.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Established in Ukraine\u2019s city of Pripyat, Chernobyl was an atomic power station during the Soviet Union\u2019s era.
