Bollywood Superstar Sanjay Dutt has been served a legal notice for allegedly violating the remake rights of his upcoming movie Prasthanam<\/em><\/strong>. Sanjay\u2019s wife, Manyata Dutt, and film director Deva Katta have also been served the notice.<\/p>\n

The legal notice was sent by a leading media company Sheemaro. Before anyone jumps ahead of themselves with the question of how do you violate ‘remake rights’, we’re here to explain.<\/p>\n

Remake Rights<\/h3>\n

Prasthanam<\/em><\/strong> is a Hindi remake of the hit Telegu movie of the same name which was released in 2010.<\/p>\n

Now, normally when you’ve acquired the ‘remake rights’ of a movie there’s little you can do to violate that. You’re basically just re-doing what someone else already did.<\/p>\n

The thing is, turns out Sanjay Dutt may not have had the remake rights to Prasthanam<\/strong><\/em> to begin with.<\/p>\n

The news was confirmed by Shemaroo\u2019s Senior Vice-President for film production Ketan Maru<\/strong><\/em>. According to Shemaroo they have the remake rights not Sanjay Dutt.<\/p>\n

\u201cYes, we have sent a legal notice to Mr Dutt and others associated with the remake of the 2010 Telugu film, Prasthanam. That\u2019s because we at Shemaroo have the remake rights of the film,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Sheemaro not Nice To Sanjay Dutt<\/h3>\n

Prasthanam<\/em><\/strong> came out in 2010 and Sheemaro Entertainment claims they acquired the remake rights for the film back in 2012. They could have given Sanju a heads up when he announced he’d be making a Hindi remake for the film. Sheemaro says they did, but Sanju Baba just didn’t listen.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe acquired the rights of Prasthanam in 2012. When we read the announcement of Mr Dutt\u2019s remake, we immediately drew attention to the fact that the remake rights of Prasthanam<\/em><\/strong> were with us. However, they paid no attention and proceeded to remake the film,\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While Shemaroo had to send a lawsuit to Sanju at some point, they could have chosen another date to do so. As the Munna Bhai MBBS<\/em><\/strong> actor celebrated his 60th birthday, Shemaroo slapped him with a lawsuit.<\/p>\n

Sheemaro Entertainment really killed the vibe for Munna Bhai<\/em>\u2019s birthday plans. Earlier, it was reported that Sanju Baba will be releasing the teaser of Prasthanam<\/em><\/strong> on his birthday. Now, it remains to be seen whether they release the first look of the film or not?<\/p>\n
